Neither should our government be based on Christianity, or any other religion. That begs the question of ‘why Christianity?’. Basing laws that affect everyone on conservative Christianity is as appropriate — as inappropriate as fashioning laws after Atheism or Buddhism or Islam or Paganism or Wicca.

My hope is always that anyone and everyone in a leadership role — regardless of their personal beliefs — possesses and makes consistent use of the best qualities of any ‘religion’, such as common sense and sound judgment, compassion, fairness, integrity, and reason, in exercising their power over everyone affected by it.
